Volunteer tennis coach and degree student Rachel Glendinning, was Nelson and Colne College Group’s Further Education Student of the Year.
On course to achieve a first-class honours degree in Sports Coaching and Performance, Rachel preceded this qualification with a Distinction A* in her BTEC Level 3 Sports Diploma. In fact, she served up one of the highest ever scores achieved in the region!
Rachel runs sports clubs with local primary schools and has even taken her coaching Stateside, delivering soccer and athletics sessions in Denver and Colorado – and has used these experiences to enrich classroom discussions.
Her nominating tutor said: “Rachel engages with all extra-curricular activities and invests her time and finances into additional qualifications to support her development. Rachel has spent her summers in the USA coaching and this allows her to put her theoretical knowledge into practise. I am extremely confident that Rachel will be highly successful in her future endeavours.”
