Publications Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives a general right of access to recorded information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities. A ‘public authority’ is defined in the Act, and includes universities. Any person who makes a request to a public authority for information must be informed whether the public body holds that information and subject to exemptions, be supplied with that information. To reduce duplication and bureaucracy and to ensure consistency in the release of information, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has developed a model publication scheme that any public authority can use. Accrington and Rossendale College has adopted the model publication scheme. Therefore the following information is highlighted in this section of the website:

  • Information about how we are governed and run
  • Information about our academic and administrative organisation
  • Our location and contact details
  • Prospectus and course information
  • Annual reports and financial statements
  • College policies and regulations
  • Records of some of our important committees
  • Press releases

How do I obtain information covered by the publication scheme?

Where possible, Accrington and Rossendale College has published the majority of documents covered by the scheme in electronic format in this segment of the website (see links to the right of the page to navigate sections).  Certain documents will not be published on the website due to the Data Protection Act or commercial sensitivity. However, at present, some information is available in paper copy only. To obtain paper copies or further information please contact the Director of Resources and Estates by telephone on: 01254 389933 or email: foi@accross.ac.uk. Address details are also shown below.

How much do printed publications cost?

Copies of publications/information listed in the publication scheme are available free of charge. Printed information on courses and services offered by the College is also available free of charge, as are packs issued to people responding to notices of job vacancies. If you are not able to obtain what you require from the College website, then please indicate clearly the information you would like, and address all applications to:
