Course Overview

As part of this great week, we are offering the opportunity to come and take part in this fun, interactive craft

workshop. The teacher will instruct you on how to create an illustration using collage and pattern, inspired by Eric

Carle, illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Parents/carers with children in school will thoroughly enjoy this

engagement session which will allow you to learn about simple techniques you can copy at home to illustrate your

child’s favourite book

What will I learn?

This is a practical and interactive course that is meant to be lots of fun whilst learning and developing important

creative skills. It is designed to ignite a passion and confidence in children that will lead them to explore more courses

with parents/carers. Learning through play has been widely recognised as an effective way of developing skills. As part

of the activities – children will also be developing their communication and teamwork skills.

The course also allows a safe and organised environment for parents/carers to spend quality time “playing” with their

children and taking key lessons away about working together to encourage healthier relationships.

By the end of the course, parents/carers will be able to:

· Create surface patterns using paint to transform into colourful lettering.

· Use tissue paper and scissors / glue to create bright collage of insects and bugs

· Identify next steps and further courses to enrol onto.

How will the course be assessed?

This course is delivered face to face, usually in a local school or suitable venue – please check details before enrolling.

The teacher will support and guide the learners through the session so they are able to complete the learning

activities.

Learning activities include:
