Desktop Support Apprentice - Stonehouse Logic +

Job description:

The Desktop Support apprentice will be responsible for assisting with configuration and setup of new desktop hardware, troubleshooting and resolution of desktop hardware and software faults for end customers and general day to day office duties.

Future progression in the team would depend upon performance and aptitude in these roles and could lead to a network support and further into a network project implementation role. This will be based on regular performance reviews.

In order to work flexibly in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post-holder. Any other tasks that may be requested will be at the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions of employment.

The apprentice will work within this team, to gain the work based experience and will be supported by day release to attend theory sessions and undertaking the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) qualification.

Key duties and responsibilities:

The apprentice will be covering the following roles during their 15-month apprenticeship:

  • Provide 1st line support assistance to the technical team, related issues on desktop hardware and software products.
  • Build and configuration new desktop based hardware to meet customer expectations, and installation deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot desktop hardware faults and errors, and provide resolutions to these issues.
  • Work with implementation team on new customer and new application installations.
  • To attend training, conferences, staff and team meetings as required
  • To be flexible regarding working hours when requested
  • To take an active role within the team and provide cover in another member’s absence 

Qualifications / skills required:

  • GCSEs in Maths and English C or above or equivalent.

Think4 IT Solutions Ltd have been going since 2006 with year on year growth through IT Support and Managed Services. In 2014, they became a Managed Partner with Microsoft and from over 7k registered SMB Partners (2015).

With over 100 support contracts, they are looking to expand their helpdesk team to enable them to grow further and nurture the next IT generation.

Job description:

They are very passionate about apprenticeships and have an opportunity for an IT apprentice to join the IT Services Team. Apprentices within this organisation have genuine opportunity and career prospects.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide the customer facing interface for all support queries into Think 4 IT Solutions
  • Co-ordinate all support queries and requests
  • Maintain knowledge base for all encountered issues
  • Update customers on all stages of support calls, from logging, research, action plan, escalation to resolution
  • Provide First Line Support to customers and internal users
  • Document all support ticket work against the helpdesk system, and all internal documentation in the relevant libraries. (This will involve the creation of articles on common fixes to enable users to become more self-reliant)
  • Take responsibility for support issues, deploying short or long-term fixes with the primary aim to be to restore service to the client as quickly as possible; escalating support issues to other support staff where necessary
  • To gain knowledge and skills with in Azure to support Business customers and IT growth
  • Actively look to attain knowledge in cloud-based technologies to follow business trends
  • Performing work not specifically stated which will be necessary from time to time, without altering the nature or level of responsibility
